Huntsville International Airport ready for Thanksgiving travel rush

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – There are nine days and counting until the Thanksgiving holiday.

If you’re hitting the skies for this year’s feast, Huntsville International Airport is making it easy. Experts say nearly 80 million Americans are expected to travel over the holiday.

For months, airport officials have been working to fix overdue infrastructure issues while creating amenities for customers.

Over the summer airport officials spent nearly $10 million upgrading the facility’s concourse, making it easier to get to your terminals.

Airport leaders said the most important thing to pack is extra time.

“Come on a little earlier as you got time to get parked, you got time to check that bag, get through ticketing, and most importantly get through the TSA checkpoint so you arrive to your gate refreshed and you got a few minutes before boarding to finish up those last minute tasks,” said Mary Swanstrom, public relations manager with the Huntsville International Airport.
