Huskers look to rebound from first loss, prep to travel to Purdue

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Husker football team looks to rebound after their first loss of the season. For the first time this year, the Huskers will take to the road, travelling to West Lafayette, Indiana to take on the Purdue Boilermakers.

The Boilermakers are led by second year head coach Ryan Walters. Walters led the team to a 4-8 record last season and are 1-2 to open the 2024 campaign. Purdue opened the season with a convincing 49-0 over Indiana State, but have dropped their last two games to Notre Dame and Oregon State.

Meanwhile, questions surround a Nebraska program that dropped another close game on Friday night, losing to Illinois 31-24 in overtime. In fact, the Huskers have now lost eight consecutive overtime games dating back to a loss against Miami in 2015.

The Huskers and Purdue are scheduled for an 11 a.m. kickoff on Saturday with the game airing exclusively on Peacock. As of Monday morning, the Huskers are 10 point favorites over Purdue, with the O/U set at 49.5 points.

With the team back on a regular schedule, Coach Rhule will speak to reporters on Monday, coordinators Tony White & Marcus Satterfield with a smattering of players on Tuesday, and a post-practice session with Coach Rhule again on Thursday.
