I was shamed over this outfit I wore on a quick shopping trip to Kmart in WA – but I don’t see anything wrong with it

An Aussie nurse was left shocked and confused after a stranger commented on her outfit during a quick shopping run.

Hayli Hooper, from WA, went to Kmart to shop for homewares after visiting the gym in February and wore a red sports bra, pink shorts with matching sneakers and a hat.

The 38-year-old told FEMAIL said she was standing near the women’s clothing display when an older woman, assumed to be in her 40s, gushed at her.

‘She looked me up and down, and grabbed her smallest kid’s hand and said to me, “You should be ashamed, cover up!”‘ Hayli said.

She angry woman then yanked the child’s hand and walked away.

‘It took me a moment to realise what she had said! I was shocked, only like 50m away was the active wear area. My entire outfit was from Kmart bought a month earlier,’ Hayli said.

‘How moronic – if the lady had ever stepped foot in a gym, she would realise this was a totally normal outfit. All you could see is an inch of my stomach and normal bike length shorts and I can’t help the fact I have big boobs.

‘How am I the negative image here? Someone that is fit and healthy. Honestly the way she said it she might as well of spat at me.’

The ‘disgusting’ outburst left Hayli in disbelief and she wondered how someone could be so awful.

Hayli works as a nurse and Only Fans creator, and unfortunately this isn’t the first time she’s been shunned based on her outfit.

A week earlier she visited a nice restaurant wearing a bandage skirt with an orange midriff top from Kmart with a drawstring at the waist.

A staff member quickly told Hayli the business doesn’t tolerate ‘beachwear’ and an argument erupted before she was asked to leave.

Both situations back-to-back annoyed Hayli and she later discovered the restaurant had blocked her on social media.

Earlier this year another young woman claimed she was told to leave a gym because her outfit ‘didn’t fit’ the dress code.

Emi Romero, from Colorado, felt ‘shocked’ and ’embarrassed’ when a staff member confronted her about her ensemble due to the gym’s policy that prevents women from wearing uncovered sports bras.

However, the 28-year-old, who is five months pregnant, believes she didn’t breach any rules as she opted for camo leggings paired with a brown tank top that didn’t show her stomach.

‘Honestly at first I was extremely embarrassed and felt like crying because I’ve already felt a little insecure about pregnancy changes,’ Emi told FEMAIL.

‘As time has gone on I’ve become more frustrated and disappointed.’

In a now-viral TikTok video, Emi recounted the dilemma while filming herself in her car.

‘So I’m wearing this tank top today, right?’ she said.

‘And the owner’s wife is staring at me the whole time I’m working out. And [the] owner kind of walks [over] halfway through my workout. He’s like, “Listen, my wife has an issue with what you’re wearing right now. We don’t allow sports bras”.’

Feeling confused Emi said she knew of the rule and wasn’t wearing a sports bra.

But she said the owner replied, ‘No, see I agree with you, but my wife, it’s really hard to differentiate between what’s a sports bra and what’s not… so you’re going to have to either leave or put on a top.’

Emi claimed she looked around and other women working out were wearing ‘super short shirts’ and bearing their ‘whole stomachs’.
