Illegal gambling machines seized from 5 locations in Shelby County

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Law enforcement officials seized illegal gambling machines from five different locations in Shelby County on Wednesday.

Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy’s office teamed up with members of the West Tennessee Drug Task Force to carry out the sting.

Mulroy says the presence of these machines is becoming increasingly common, despite being illegal.

He says anyone caught with the machines is subject to prosecution.

In addition to the machines, $15,000 in money was seized.

Law enforcement was also able to connect illegal guns and money laundering to some of the locations.

Mulroy says he hopes the sting helps cut the prevalence of these machines.
