I’m a fashion director and I’m hooked on this high-street knitwear

I only shop at Uniqlo for all my knitwear needs. Fact. Here I find the perfect merino and cashmere cardigans, versatile jumpers (roll neck, crew and v), and the coolest ribbed polo knits in every stylish uniform shade from navy, gray and green to cream and camel. I have one in pretty much every colour, not only because they work with everything in my wardrobe, but also because their price tags are so affordable.

I love the thin-knit sweaters with a neat round neck, which work brilliantly under my tailored blazers or tucked into high-waisted trousers and pencil skirts. The v-neck cashmere jumpers make the ultimate evening layer – I wear mine with nothing underneath, just layers of gold chains, jeans and high-heeled slingbacks – and the latest style to turn my eye is the ribbed polo knit with its sports luxe, Prada-esque looks. I wear mine XS so it’s very fitted and preppy, but sometimes I’ll size up for a slouchier silhouette.

If its affordable knitwear that you’re after this season, I urge you to invest in my Uniqlo favourites now. But don’t tell everyone; keep it as our little secret…

The ribbed polo knit

I wear this in an XS size, buttoned up with wide-leg trousers and loafers. A jaunty scarf and gold hoop earrings add a bit of fizz to a sports luxe classic.

The cashmere v-neck

A steal at just under £80 for cashmere, I love to wear a biscuity, camel shade with the frill details of a romantic ruffle shirt popping out of the collar and cuffs. Tailored black shorts and knee-high boots make it work-smart.

The merino cardigan

I don’t usually wear cardigans but this Uniqlo slim-fit, round-neck merino style is the ultimate. I wear it tucked into a polka-dot party skirt (it dresses the whole look down) or belted over pencil skirts. I’m slowly adding to my collection but gray is the most versatile shade.
