Incumbent Democrat reelected to Peoria County Board, fending off prominent business owner’s challenge
PEORIA (25News Now) – Democratic Peoria County Board Member Eden Blair has won another term representing District 6, defeating Republican challenger Brett Beachler in Tuesday’s election.
Blair had 55% of the vote versus Beachler’s 45%.
Beachler, owner of Beachlers Tire & Automotive Center in Peoria, focused his campaign on the need for fiscal responsibility and to avoid the possibility of tax increases after the county runs out of federal money from the American Rescue Plan Act (APRA)
“I’m no savior, I’m just a guy coming to the board with 36 years of business experience,” Beachler said.
Blair has served a District 6 board member for five years. She’s a professor of management at Bradley University. She said her focus has been on economic development and helping people start a business.
Blair has been chair of the board’s advisory committee on small business and entrepreneurship.
