India retain top spot in ICC Men’s T20I World Rankings

The Indian men’s cricket team retained its top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I World Rankings for teams, which was updated on Friday.

India are also world No. 1 in ODIs but lost their perch to Australia in Test cricket.

Indian men’s cricket team top the T20I world rankings list with 264 points but it’s lead has reduced from 11 to seven points with Australia climbing to second place after leapfrogging England in the rankings.

England, who trail the Aussies by five points, hold a slender two-point lead over South Africa, who have jumped two places and hold fourth place with 250 points.

New Zealand also have 250 points and are ranked fifth. The West Indies also climbed one spot to take sixth place while Pakistan fell two places to seventh in the world rankings.

The positions of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Ireland remain unchanged as they occupy the spots between 8 and 11, respectively.

India have played 20 T20I matches in the last year, out of which they have won 13. India lost five games while one match ended in a tie and another failed to produce a result.

India recently named a 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which will be co-hosted by the West Indies and USA next month. Rohit Sharma will be leading the side while Hardik Pandya will serve as vice-captain.
