Indianapolis is among the worst US cities for summer travel, per Forbes

INDIANAPOLIS — While many Hoosiers cherish the Circle City and the many vibrant events and things to do in the summer months, others seem to disagree.

Forbes Advisor analyzed data for the country’s 43 most-populated cities and ranked them on 16 metrics, including crime rates, hotel prices, average number of extreme temperature days, flight dependability and number of highly-rated restaurants.

Cities were then graded by Forbes on scores of 100 in each category, with a score of 100 meaning the “worst” performance in that category.

While no Indiana cities made the top five of the worst summer cities list, the Hoosier State’s capital did crack the top ten.

Coming in at number six was Indianapolis, which received an overall score of 70.66/100.

While Indy’s scores in the “city experience” and “driving experience” categories weren’t awful, the city didn’t fare well in categories such as “air travel experience.”

Indy wasn’t the worst city on the list, however, with Jacksonville, Colorado Springs, Fresno, Memphis and Albequerque garnering worse scores. Of the cities ranked in the study, Minneapolis received the best overall score. To read Forbes’ full study, click here.

While Forbes may not find Indy appealing in the summer, we at FOX59/CBS4 couldn’t think of a better city to be in.
