Infrastructure upgrades planned for Ardmore at both airports

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – The city of Ardmore sent in a letter of request to split the cost for construction with the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics for a 2.3 million dollar terminal and to replace the old perimeter fencing at the downtown executive airport.

“It’s seen its better days and we want to do something more modern, gives better access from land to air side but also gives the FBO a hangar for more transient aircraft,” airport director Dan Luttrell said.

Luttrell says construction on the intermodal transportation hub at the industrial airpark is in phase two with improvements such as new water lines, corporate hangars and cargo area developments.

“All of that additional infrastructure bringing the 1940′s,1950′s infrastructure up to modern so that we can help facilitate those big businesses coming in,” Luttrell added.

He says these improvements ill be able to expand the airpark’s capabilities to make Ardmore a major hub for businesses in the region.

“It’s yet another improvement for Ardmore, continuing putting Ardmore on the map, and showing that we’re a player not only in the state of Oklahoma and Southern Oklahoma, but in this region,” Luttrell stated.

He says construction on the projects at the airpark should be completed within three year’s time.

“We have so much that we can facilitate with our current infrastructure this will give us the capability to continue to grow this asset for Ardmore,” Luttrell said.
