Instagram DM is getting photo editing features

Instagram is adding some interesting features to direct messages to make your private conversations even better. Users are also getting an interesting way to celebrate their birthday on Instagram virtually.

The company is adding photo editing options in DM. So, users can now edit photos by drawing or adding stickers before sending them to a contact in DM. You can also use filters or fine-tune photos with tools like brightness, contrast, saturation, and more. Custom stickers also work in DMs. So, you can use a cutout of an object from an existing photo to make a custom sticker and add it to any other photo.

If you look closely, the company is providing the same photo editing tools in DM that you get in Stories. So, you can do the same level of photo enhancement in DMs as well. This feature will help users share more visually appealing content to make conversations more engaging.

Instagram is also adding new chat themes for making your DMs better. New themes include Fall and Sabrina Carpenter.

Users can also now post a note on their own birthday to let their friends know about it. When you set your birthday in your profile, your friends will see a special notification on their feed. They can also send you a virtual birthday cake and confetti animation by tapping the notification.
