iPadOS 18 Is Bricking Some iPads, As Apple Recalls The Update – Here’s What You Should Do
Apple released iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 to the general public earlier this week, and the updates were pretty well received, given how the new customization options completely transform your iPhone. However, some iPad users are not so lucky in this regard as iPadOS 18 is bricking the new M4 iPad Pro models, but not all of them are affected by the issue.
iPadOS 18 is bricking some M4 iPad Pro models, and Apple has already recalled the update
Apple has recalled the iPadOS 18 update from select iPads, as there have been numerous complaints piling up, stating that the latest version is bricking their M4 iPad Pro models. This means that the update is no longer available for the M4 iPad Pro, as users are advised to stick to the last stable iPadOS 17 update. If your iPad is bricked, it would be wise to perform a fresh install through Finder on your Mac or iTunes on Windows.
Users of the M4 iPad Pro took to Reddit to share their complaints regarding the new update. Users complain that there was an interruption in the installation process for iPadOS 18 on M4 iPad Pro models. It appears that the issue is exclusive to the M4 iPad Pro models, and only a handful of users are affected. Additionally, the issue could be linked to installing the iOS 17.7 update before updating to iOS 18. Here’s what Apple has to say regarding the M4 iPad Pro bricking issue after iPadOS 18 update (via MacRumors).
“We have temporarily removed the iPadOS 18 update for M4 iPad Pro models as we work to resolve an issue that is impacting a small number of devices.”
Currently, Apple has taken note of the issue and is working on a fix. Once it is ready, the company will issue a new iPadOS 18 update for M4 iPad Pro models. Right now, if you are having issues installing any update, you can update your device through Finder or iTunes. We will keep you posted on the fix, so be sure to stick around.
