Is Alexa Chung engaged to Tom Sturridge? The fashion icon sparks rumours with a bold new ring

As she begins her ascent back into the spotlight, has Alexa Chung finally revealed she’s engaged to boyfriend Tom Sturridge?

The model, 40, first sparked engagement rumours with the actor, 38, back in June, with the couple seen wearing matching rings in October.

But in a new video with fashion brand Mango, Chung can be seen flaunting a huge gold band with a red rock on her left hand.

The son of award-winning film director Charles Sturridge, Tom seems open to marriage, while Alexa for her part, previously mused: ‘I just don’t get why marriage is different from non-marriage — I just don’t get it.’

Back in June, the couple were seen wearing matching rings, but in the new video it’s hard not to spot the large ring on her otherwise bare hands.

The couple went public with their romance last July when they attended day seven of the Wimbledon Championships.

In a nod to their very unique set-up, in their first public outing, they were joined by Sienna Miller, who looked joyous while sitting in front of the couple.

Mr Sturridge and Ms Miller previously dated for four years and share daughter Marlowe, 13. They split in 2015.

But they are still on good terms, with Ms Miller calling Mr Sturrdige her ‘best friend’.

She gave them her seal of approval for her ex and Alexa and in December told Vogue UK: ‘I’m really happy for them. It’s genuinely lovely.’

Following their split in 2015, it was claimed Ms Miller and Mr Sturridge had different goals. A source said at the time: ‘Tom wanted to get married and have more children. Sienna didn’t.’

Meanwhile Miss Chung has enjoyed a slew of high-profile romances.

Her exes include Alex Turner, Alexander Skarsgård, Orson Fry, Albert Hammond Jr., Faris Badwan, Faris Badwan and Theo Hutchcraft.

In 2018, she spoke to Porter about her opinion on marriage, saying: ‘I just don’t get why marriage is different from non-marriage — I just don’t get it, I think having a partner in life must be quite nice but I don’t need a wedding day per se’.

The new Mango video is Alexa Chung’s latest jump with her getting back into the spotlight.

At this weeks British Fashion Awards she walked the red carpet in a £10,000 Miu Miu fluffy coat and later presented an award to Margaret Barbour.

In October she was back on the runway and modeled for Miu Miu at Paris Fashion Week.

And in September she released a collaboration with Barbour.

She started her career out originally as a TV presenter, and since has worked with the likes of M&S, Mulberry and J Crew.

In 2009, Alexa was named Vogue’s Best Dressed Woman of the Year at the age of 25 – beating out Cheryl Cole, Emma Watson, Sienna Miller and Kate Moss to the title.

That same year, she was named Contributing Editor of British Vogue – a position she still holds almost 15 years later.

Now working with Mango, Miss Chung talked viewers through three questions about fashion and style.

Asked if dressing according to your age is outdated, she said: ‘I think that it’s an outdated notion.

‘I think any kind of rules, regulations or anyone kind of foisting an idea up on you about how you should behave or be is quite old-fashioned and not appropriate anymore.

‘Mainly because it takes the fun out of getting dressed and you should be free to represent yourself as it occurs to you.

‘I like a navy blue jumper, classic jeans, a trench coat, a Mary Jane, a loafer, and lucky for me they’re back in fashion.

‘But because I was always steadfast in what appealed to me it meant I didn’t really have to sway too much to trends.

‘Perhaps I like to buy or invest in pieces that are going to last me longer.’
