Is iMessage not working? Thousands of users report Apple service down Thursday afternoon

Thousands of Apple device users reported experiencing issues while using iMessage on Thursday afternoon.

Over 13,000 iMessage outages were reported as of just after 6 p.m. ET, according to outage tracker Downtector.

Some users reported receiving a “Not Delivered” message while using the app. Others said they had to opt to send a non-iMessage text with a green bubble instead.

Apple’s online System Status tracker said iMessage was experiencing an issue, as of 7:00 p.m. ET. Some users said they have no hurdles sending messages successfully.

USA TODAY has reached out to Apple representatives for comment.

Many quickly flocked to social media to share their experiences being unable to use the communication platform.
