Israel’s Eden Golan responds as Eurovision protests rage

Eden Golan, Israel’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, says she’s focused on “giving the best performance” after pro-Palestinian protesters gathered in Malmö on Thursday.

More than 10,000 protesters – including climate activist Greta Thunberg – marched against Israel’s participation while Golan prepared to perform in the competition’s second semi-final.

Responding to the protesters, Golan said: “I’m here, I’m doing what I love most, I’m focused on music.” She described representing her country as “an honour”.

Around 100 people gathered to support Israel’s participation at a counter-protest nearby.
