It’s almost Ann Arbor Art Fair time. Here’s the music, entertainment coming in 2024

ANN ARBOR, MI — Get ready for a variety of live entertainment and music at the 2024 Ann Arbor Art Fair.

The art fair will span 30 blocks downtown from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 18, and Friday, July 19, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 20.

Three stages will fill the streets with live music and entertainment during the annual event. Here’s the lineup of performances.

Stage on Main: Summer Sounds presented by WEMU 89.1 featuring The Ark

Stage on Main is on the corner of Main and William streets in the parking lot next to Palio Restaurant, 347 S. Main St.

Musical artists will perform in partnership with The Ark, a nonprofit that has a live music venue in downtown Ann Arbor, ad will showcase a little of what The Ark is known for doing year-round.

The stage will feature live musical performances, a curation of local acts by The Amplify Project and Washtenaw Community College, along with performances from the Neutral Zone, the Prison Creative Arts Project, Out Loud Chorus and Saline Fiddlers.

The Foutain Stage presented by 107.1

The Fountain Stage brings performances to Ingalls Mall, between East Washington Street and North University Avenue. It will feature emcee DJ Scott Vertical daily, the Johnny Speakeasy Benefit honoring local music legend Johnny Williams nightly and seating under the Fountain Stage tent.

The Street Stage on William Street, just west of Maynard Street, will offer a variety of music and a tent for fairgoers to get some shade during the art fair.

The Ann Arbor Art Fair also will feature other exhibitions, galleries and live art demonstrations. Here are a few.

Prison Creative Arts Project

This year’s exhibition, “We Roar,” showcases the artwork and poetry of 40 people who are imprisoned in England and the United States. The pieces will be on display at the corner of South University and East University avenues during fair.

The University of Michigan’s Stamps School of Art and Design

The inaugural Stamps School of Art and Design Pavillion is an outdoor art gallery that features work from students outside of the Diag, near the corner of State Street and North University Avenue. The group will also be hosting a bookmark making workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 20, on Ingalls Mall near the Art Activity Zone.

Chalk the Walk with David Zinn

Local artist David Zinn will create his iconic chalk street art live from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday and Saturday, weather permitting. The demonstration will happen near the corner of Liberty Street and Fifth Avenue.

Live glass blowing

The Toledo Museum of Art will have a team blowing glass live from 1 to 4 p.m. every day at East Washington Street and Ingalls Mall on the University of Michigan campus.

Live ceramic demonstrations

The Ann Arbor Potter’s Guild has showing off its live ceramic demonstrations at the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, The Original for more than 60 years and will continue that tradition this year on the Hill Auditorium Lawn.

There are many other events and activities happening during the art fair, including a partnership with the Ann Arbor State Street District Art Fair and Creative Washtenaw bringing the first Ann Arbor Art Fair Creative District on William Street. Activities include minute-long caricature drawings, a circus street performer and face painting.
