It’s Heeeere…Be Prepared for Windy, Slippery Travel Today

The first winter weather event of the season has arrived in the Sheboygan Area, creating slippery stretches on area highways as early as 4:30 this morning.  Light snow showers overnight were replaced from north-to-south as bands of significant snow progressed through the northeastern part of the state, and will continue to do the same until about noon.  A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for all of eastern Wisconsin between 6 a.m. and noon, and while rain will then replace the snowfall, a Wind Advisory will continue until 4 this afternoon.  That’s for northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts as high as 45.

Motorists are being advised to expect slow, slippery travel from the snow with occasional low visibility, all complicated by those winds that can blow vehicles off-course, especially high-profile vehicles like semis, campers and large trailers.

Snowfall in Sheboygan County will range from only around an inch along the Lake Michigan shore, up to 4 inches in the Kettle Moraine.

The rain is expected to end by 10 tonight, and after that drier conditions take over with lows in the mid 30s and highs tomorrow in the mid 40s.
