ITT Inc. announces major expansion, new jobs in Seneca and Cayuga counties | Fingerlakes1.com
Empire State Development announced a landmark partnership with ITT Inc. on Monday, unveiling plans for up to $85 million in capital investments across its New York facilities, with a significant focus on Seneca Falls and nearby Auburn. The project is expected to create up to 75 new jobs over the next five years, reinforcing the region’s position as a cornerstone of New York’s manufacturing sector.
The largest share of ITT’s investment will go to Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, a flagship facility that serves as the headquarters for ITT’s Industrial Process segment. With an investment of $72.5 million, the company plans substantial upgrades to machinery, equipment, and infrastructure, while creating up to 45 new jobs. The facility currently employs around 620 workers and plays a critical role in manufacturing industrial pumps used worldwide.
“This expansion underscores ITT’s commitment to Seneca Falls and the surrounding communities,” said Bartek Makowiecki, Senior Vice President at ITT. “Goulds Pumps has been a part of this town for over 175 years, and this investment ensures it will continue to drive economic growth and innovation for years to come.”
Additionally, ITT will invest in its Enidine facility in Orchard Park, with $11 million allocated to modernize operations and add 25 jobs. Meanwhile, the Syracuse-based Embedded Motor Drive (EMD) facility will see a $1.5 million investment, resulting in five new jobs.
State officials highlighted the importance of the partnership for the Finger Lakes region, emphasizing its potential ripple effects on neighboring communities like Auburn, where skilled workers and suppliers will directly benefit from increased manufacturing activity at Goulds Pumps.
“Seneca Falls and the broader Finger Lakes region have long been vital to New York’s manufacturing economy,” said Empire State Development President, CEO, and Commissioner Hope Knight. “This investment not only secures existing jobs but also creates new opportunities for workers and families in Seneca Falls, Auburn, and beyond.”
Governor Kathy Hochul’s administration has prioritized manufacturing growth in Upstate New York, with nearly 14,000 manufacturing operations statewide employing over 420,000 people. Manufacturing contributes more than $95 billion annually to New York’s economy, and this partnership with ITT represents another step toward solidifying the state as a global leader in industrial innovation.
State Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan, whose district includes Seneca Falls, praised the investment. “Goulds Pumps has been the backbone of Seneca Falls for generations, and this expansion ensures its continued impact. The ripple effect of this project will extend to Auburn and the surrounding communities, bringing new opportunities and economic stability to the region.”
