Jack Perry: ‘I don’t give a s**t about the wrestling business’

AEW star Jack Perry defeated Dustin Rhodes on last night’s (June 12) episode of Dynamite and qualified for the TNT championship ladder match at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 30.

Plenty of wrestling fans think Perry is the favorite to go all the way and win the belt, given his position in The Elite and the fact that the rest of the group is already dripping in gold.

The Scapegoat agrees that he’s destined to win the belt, as you can listen to him say in this post-show promo:

“I already told you, it doesn’t matter what anybody says, what anybody does. I have already been chosen by the universe. For everything that I’ve been through, for everything that I’ve sacrificed, and not for the wrestling business. I don’t give a shit about the wrestling business. I’m talking about everything that I have sacrificed for the true spirit of AEW, before all these unworthy people came in here and tried to poison what that really means.

We all have to sacrifice, and one way or another, at Forbidden Door, I am the next TNT Champion.”

Jack has been focused on the word “sacrifice” since he returned to AEW. He makes it clear that he’s not making these sacrifices for the pro wrestling business, because he doesn’t give a shit about that.

Perry’s reference to all the people who “came in here and tried to poison” the true spirit of AEW can be interpreted as a reference to his past conflict with CM Punk, and is consistent with The Elite’s mission statement to return AEW to how it was before the culture changed for the worse backstage.

Do you think the next TNT champion will be a guy who doesn’t give a shit about the pro wrestling business? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
