If you want to know where the who’s-who of Hollywood or your favorite creators actually stay when they go away, Expedia has the answer. Actor, producer and director Jaime Camil (Jane the Virgin, Coco) is one of many sharing their favorite destinations and hidden finds with a newly-launched Travel Shop.
These shoppable (and your-next-vacation-bookable) storefronts powered by Expedia let you travel like the stars, although it’s not all room service caviar and fancy linens. Camil just wants to share ways he likes to relax with family, and how to best celebrate Día de Muertos in Mexico. “I’m someone that is very particular about where I stay when I’m traveling. I want to feel immersed in the destination and, to me, the quality of the service and amenities can really make or break your trip,” Camil told Rolling Stone.
If you’ve ever spent hours spending hours scrolling on social media to find the perfect hotel, or have waded through hundreds of reviews on the best heritage sites for walking tours, these shops give you one central place on the Expedia app to view and book everything you need directly — no need to ask for recs from your buddies (if any of them have even been to your destination of choice). “I loved creating the Travel Shop with Expedia because my friends are always asking me for recommendations, and now I can share my personal favorites,” says Camil.
His own personal collection of non-gatekept travel favorites include boutique hotels in Mexico City like the Casa Polanco Hotel Boutique for a spots to connect with Latin roots (“A blend of modern and classic Spanish colonial revival architecture, reflecting Mexico City’s rich cultural history”), this hidden gem just seven minutes away from one of his favorite MDMX restaurants, and where to rest your head after celebrating Día de Muertos in Oaxaca (“Fantastic home base for first-time visitors to the city as it’s located right in the heart of the city”). Camil said he specifically picked “a mix of beautiful boutique hotels and modern luxury with views, ranging from Paris to Oaxaca and many more spots in between.”
In addition to Camil’s Travel Shop, you can also explore and book hotel collections from everyone like travel influencer Oneika Raymond, to actual tourism boards like Go Dominican Republic, and even sports franchises like Arsenal FC, who have been sharing recommendations inspired by away games and players’ favorite hotels.
Whether you’re looking to book a luxury getaway where you know the spa is good enough for your favorite celeb, or you’re a history buff who wants a hotel that feels like a living museum, these hand-curated shops are ready for your next trip. Check out Jaime Camil’s Travel Shop here and other creators’ shops here and on the Expedia App.
