Jaismine Lamboria to compete for 57kg quota at world Olympic boxing qualifiers 2024

Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Jaismine Lamboria will represent India in the women’s 57kg division at the second World Olympic Boxing Qualification Tournament 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand starting on Friday.

Parveen Hooda had obtained the Paris 2024 Olympics quota for India in the women’s 57kg at the Asian Games last year. However, the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) declined the quota after Parveen was suspended by the International Testing Agency (ITA) for whereabouts failures.

Parveen was handed a 22-month suspension by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on Friday.

The 22-year-old Jaismine Lamboria competes in the 60kg boxing category. She was selected to compete at the second World Olympic Boxing Qualification Tournament in Bangkok over the other Indian boxers in the 57kg because India can only field a boxer who was registered as a reserve for the meet before April 11, 2024.
