Jamestown Regional Entrepreneur Center holding online small business programs in November

Five free presentations for the small business community will be provided by the Jamestown Regional Entrepreneur Center on Nov. 6, 7, 13 and 20.

The free online presentations are “Using AI Tools to Write a Business Plan with Ryan Berg of SCORE,” “Learn to Use System for Awards Management (SAM.gov) with Dave Kleppe,” “Sylmar Enterprises – Founder’s Discussion with Author Sylvan Loegering,” “CDFI Training with
Dakota Business Lending,” and “Emotional Intelligence 101: A guide for small business owners.”

“Using AI Tools to Write a Business Plan with Ryan Berg of SCORE” will be offered from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6. Berg, a SCORE counselor, will be discussing the use of generative AI in preparing a business plan to meet a business’s current needs. SCORE helps
businesses start, grow or successfully exit a business. Small business owners who receive three or more hours of mentoring report higher revenues and increased growth through the SCORE.org network.

On Thursday, Nov. 7, a presentation is planned on “Learn to Use System of Awards Management (SAM.gov) with Dave Kleppe.” This program is from 10 to 11 a.m. Kleppe serves as the program manager of the North Dakota APEX Accelerator. He has a leading role in
developing the North Dakota APEX client base across the state and building relationships with program resource partners including state agencies and organizations (North Dakota Department of Commerce, North Dakota District SBA office, Air Force bases, North Dakota National Guard, North Dakota Women’s Business Center, Impact Dakota MEP), other regional organizations (economic development groups, regional councils, certified development corporations, Small Business Development Centers, Veterans Business Outreach Center), institutions of higher education and tribal communities.

“A Founder’s Discussion with Author Sylvan Loegering” will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13. Loegering will discuss the inspiration for his book “A Big Challenge for a Little Brother: A Young Horse Helps a Young Boy Grow Up” and other material he has written. His company sells wholesale to bookstores and retail to consumers including libraries, schools, and individuals in North Dakota and Minnesota. These orders are fulfilled by the North Dakota State University bookstore.

On Wednesday, Nov. 20, two presentations are scheduled. The first, “CDFI Training with Dakota Business Lending,” will be from 10 to 11 a.m. The Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) program works to promote economic revitalization and community development in low-income, disadvantaged and underserved communities. Dakota Business Lending became certified in 2022 and is dedicated to further supporting small businesses in this capacity.

The second presentation, “Emotional Intelligence 101: A guide for small business owners,” will be held from noon to 12:50 p.m. The presenter, Sara Oliveri Olumba, is a life coach, couples coach and speaker based in Washington, D.C. She holds a master’s degree in positive
psychology and has been voted Best Life Coach in Washington DC four consecutive years.
