Japanese company expected to bring hundreds of jobs to ENC

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Governor Roy Cooper announced a significant economic development for Pitt County today.

Nipro Medical Corporation, a Japanese medical device manufacturer, will invest nearly $400 million in the area.

“We are continuing to develop our sites around the community that will allow us to do this business attraction, and that’s our main focus now,” said Uconda Dunn, ENC Alliance’s Business Development Vice President.

Nipro Medical Corporation plans to build a plant along Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, creating approximately 230 jobs.

“We’ve established those personal relationships and trust, and the more CEOs and companies and business leaders we have here from Japanese companies, the more they find out about North Carolina,” Governor Cooper stated.

The company has purchased 130 acres of land from Pitt County and will receive up to $2.4 million in state grants over 12 years if specific benchmarks are met.

Yoshihiro Sano, CEO of Nipro Medical Corporation, emphasized the synergy between Japanese precision and American craftsmanship, noting the company’s clients in the area as a key factor in their decision.

Construction is set to begin soon, with hiring expected to start in 2026 and the first products to be rolled out in 2027.

Following the announcement, local and state leaders participated in a traditional Japanese groundbreaking ceremony, symbolizing hopes for new opportunities and blessings.

Additionally, WITN was told that many of the new jobs will offer salaries above the average wage in Pitt County, which is around $50,000.
