Jeffrey Dean Morgan to Host NBC Travel Competition Series ‘Destination X’
Jeffrey Dean Morgan will host the upcoming NBC reality competition series “Destination X.”
The show is based on the Beglian format created by Geronimo and distributed globally by Be-Entertainment. Morgan will also serve as an executive producer on the series, which marks his first time hosting an unscripted series.
“Jeffrey Dean Morgan embodies the mischievous international man of mystery, making him the perfect host and puppet master for this new travel adventure series,” said Corie Henson, executive vice president of unscripted content, competition and game shows for NBCUniversal Entertainment. “He’s dashing, charming, playful and the ultimate travel companion!”
The official series description states:
“Viewers will follow contestants as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime but have no idea where they are. In order to win, they must figure out their mystery locations. Once they’re on the blacked-out Destination X bus, the journey transforms into a real-life game board, with challenges designed to offer clever clues as to their location, along with a few misdirects to keep them guessing. At the end of each episode, contestants must guess where they are and the furthest from the actual location is sent packing. The first participant to reach Destination X will be crowned the winner. With high stakes and mind-blowing spectacular gameplay, the series will keep viewers engaged and take them along for the ride.”
“‘Destination X’ captivated me with its blend of travel, mystery, and gaming,” Morgan added. “I can’t wait to embark on this wild guessing game across the globe as Master of Ceremony, navigating players through challenges that test their mental and physical abilities.”
Morgan currently stars in the AMC series “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” in which he reprises the role of Negan, whom he began playing in “The Walking Dead” back in 2016. He is also known for his roles in shows like “Supernatural” and “Grey’s Anatomy” and recently appeared in the Amazon series “The Boys.” In film, he is known for features like “Watchmen” and “P.S. I Love You.”
He is repped by UTA, Anonymous Content, and Goodman Genow.
“When thinking about who we’d want to travel around the world with, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was the first person to come to mind,” said Toby Gorman, president of Universal Television Alternative Studio. “’Destination X’ is filled with adventure, excitement and intrigue, all the characteristics that Jeffrey exemplifies.”
“Destination X” is produced by Twofour, part of ITV Studios, and Universal Television Alternative Studio. Andy Cadman and Lee Smithurst will executive produce alongside Twofour managing director Dan Adamson and chief creative director David Clews. Twofour director of production and operations Shireen Abbott will oversee production. Morgan will also executive produce in addition to hosting. “Destination X” marks the second commission between NBC and the BBC following “The Traitors.” Twofour will produce both versions. BBC will announce their host at a later date.
