JELD-WEN consolidates operations, brings 200 jobs to Rantoul amidst facility closures

Last week, JELD-WEN Holding Inc. announced that they would be closing two facilities in Wisconsin and California. With the company consolidating its Wisconsin location to be housed in their Rantoul facility, bringing roughly 200 jobs to the village.

In a press release, JELD-WEN said that the closure and movement of facilities is to “strengthen the foundation of the company and position itself for long term, profitable growth.” Further stating, the company expects to see at least a $7 million pre-tax income improvement.

Rantoul Village Administrator, Scott Eisenhauer says he’s glad good jobs are coming to the community.

“Not just jobs but very good jobs. Skilled jobs, jobs that are paying well, jobs that have the opportunity for growth within that corporate company,” said Eisenhauer.

After the Quaker Oats facility in Danville closed earlier this month, Eisenhauer said he’s grateful not only for the new jobs for the expansion as a whole.

“By choosing Rantoul for their expansion, they’re not only generating new jobs which is great for the community. But equally as important, it’s about keeping the jobs and the people who are already employed there still working for JELD-WEN,” explained Eisenhauer.

And this facility isn’t the only place in Rantoul seeing growth. According to Eisenhauer, Rantoul tourism is growing as well as other industrial companies.

“We’re also seeing some great growth in our industrial part as well, whether it’s the new investment by Flex n Gate that just took place in the community, there’s continued growth by Rantoul Foods, and by Vista Outdoor, and now this exciting news with JELD-WEN as well,” stated Eisenhauer.

JELD-WEN stated that most of the consolidation from Wisconsin to Rantoul will happen in the next coming months. Full consolidation is expected by 2025.
