Jennifer Aniston Marks 1 Year Since Matthew Perry’s Death With Touching Tribute
The “Friends” star shared a collection of photos of her former cast mate on Instagram on Monday, posting intimate moments from the set of the sitcom alongside a snap of a scene they shared together and a headshot of her late pal.
She captioned the post, “1 year,” which included emojis of a bandaged heart and a dove.
Aniston went on to tag The Matthew Perry Foundation, the non-profit founded in the actor’s honor after he died from the effects of a ketamine overdose at the age of 54 in October 2023.
Perry was undergoing medically supervised ketamine treatment for depression and anxiety but was not in a doctor’s care during the time of his death.
The Matthew Perry Foundation continues his commitment to supporting people who are recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.
During his life, the “17 Again” star was frank about his issues with drugs and alcohol, as well as his mission to help others overcome their struggles with substance abuse.
In his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry wrote, “When I die, as far as my so-called accomplishments go, it would be nice if ‘Friends’ were listed far behind the things I did to try to help other people.”
On Monday, Perry’s family appeared on the “Today” show to discuss carrying on his work through the foundation.
“He made it a big focus of his life to help other people, to encourage other people to say, ‘I need help.’ He tried to make people see that that was a brave thing,” sister Caitlin Morrison told host Savannah Guthrie.
