Jessica Chastain dragged after blasting JetBlue over ‘embarrassing’ $15 refund: ‘Read the room’
Oscar winner Jessica Chastain is being slammed on social media after she trashed JetBlue over a $15 credit for her in-flight entertainment.
The “Zero Dark Thirty” actress, 47, lashed out on X (formerly Twitter) in a since-deleted post after her “flight entertainment system” malfunctioned during a 6-hour flight.
“Thanks you @JetBlue for your $15.00 credit. My flight was $1,500 and the credit is 1/100 of the money I paid you,” Chastain’s deleted tweet posted on Wednesday read. “Strange that I paid that for your flight entertainment system that didn’t work for the duration of my 6hr flight, but I guess it was worth it for this $15 credit.”
The star made sure to attach her receipt to the tweet — and she didn’t stop there.
After JetBlue apologized to Chastain via X, writing, “We’re sorry you’re disappointed, Jessica. Please send us a DM so we can look into this,” the actress did just that, including a screenshot of the conversation she already had with the airline’s customer service.
When the service agent informed Chastain that she was issued the $15 credit, she responded, “I understand but I spent $1,500 on the flight and so did my husband. There should be some flight credit or something since I have a TrueBlue account and have been a loyal customer.”
While the “Molly’s Game” actress demanded more be done, the agent told her, “I am sorry there is not more I can do.”
Chastain’s gripes were met with criticism from online sleuths, who trashed the actress — who recently listed her NYC home for $7.45 million — for publicly dragging the airline. Many accused her of being “tone-deaf,” considering that many Floridians lost everything in Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.
“Read the room,” one X user replied. “Jessica chastain is so embarrassing,” reacted another. A third joked that “being upset with an airline and blasting them on social media” made Chastain “our modern day Princess Di.”
But not everyone had a negative response to Chastain’s tweets. Some users stuck up for the star.
Writer Louis Peitzman wrote, “So many of you would tweet exactly like Jessica Chastain if you were her level of famous. I know that in my soul.”
Another person said it was “good that a celebrity is complaining publicly,” claiming, “Airlines have absolutely no accountability when it comes to customer service, experience, or even the basics like BEING ON TIME.”
