Jessica Simpson addresses claims she is drinking again after she boasted about gambling with her son Ace, 11, in new Instagram post

Jessica Simpson has denied claims that she is drinking again.

The With You hitmaker, 44, addressed a commentator speculating about her sobriety underneath a sweet post for her son Ace, who turned 11 in June.

After the proud mom boasted about their shared love of scratch-off lottery tickets, a fan accused her of drinking in the comments section, writing, ‘STOP DRINKING!’

The singer-turned-entrepreneur — who previously shared a photo taken in the midst of her addiction as she discussed her sobriety — was quick to respond, asserting that she has been alcohol-free since October 2017.

‘I haven’t wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017 and it has been the best decision I’ve made for myself and for my family,’ she wrote.

‘Thank. You for your concern, but you have me very misunderstood. Sending love your way,’ she added.

Her full caption to her son read: ‘I’m gonna be a braggin’ Mom for a moment and just say that I have the kindest, most handsome 11yr old son on the planet.’

‘Fun fact: we both find lucky pennies randomly every other week and use them to WIN my scratchers together. Mama loves you Ace Knute Johnson- OH SO VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!’

Jessica shares a total of three children with husband Eric Johnson, 44, to whom she’s been married to since 2014: Maxwell, 12, Ace, and Birdie, five.

Last year Simpson re-posted an ‘unrecognizable’ photo of herself from six years ago to her Instagram Stories, taken in the midst of her addiction.

The unflattering snap sees the blonde beauty look nothing like her usual self, while wearing a pink track suit as she sits in a dark room.

In the original caption Simpson wrote: ‘This person in the early morning of Nov 1, 2017 is an unrecognizable version of myself.’

'I was killing myself with all the drinking and pills,' she wrote. 'Giving up the alcohol was easy. I was mad at that bottle. At how it allowed me to stay complacent and numb'

‘I was killing myself with all the drinking and pills,’ she wrote. ‘Giving up the alcohol was easy. I was mad at that bottle. At how it allowed me to stay complacent and numb’

She went on: ‘I had so much self discovery to unlock and explore. I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity.’

‘Personally, to do this I needed to stop drinking alcohol because it kept my mind and heart circling in the same direction and quite honestly I was exhausted. I wanted to feel the pain so I could carry it like a badge of honor.’

Simpson continued: ‘I wanted to live as a leader does and break cycles to advance forward- never looking back with regret and remorse over any choice I have made and would make for the rest of my time here within this beautiful world.’

‘I can’t believe it has been 4yrs! It feels like maybe 2. I think that is a good thing. Ha. There is so much stigma around the word alcoholism or the label of an alcoholic. The real work that needed to be done in my life was to actually accept failure, pain, brokenness, and self sabotage.’

‘The drinking wasn’t the issue. I was. I didn’t love myself. I didn’t respect my own power. Today I do.’

‘I have made nice with the fears and I have accepted the parts of my life that are just sad. I own my personal power with soulful courage. I am wildly honest and comfortably open. I am free.’

In her memoir Open Book she talked about getting sober. ‘I was killing myself with all the drinking and pills,’ she said. ‘Giving up the alcohol was easy. I was mad at that bottle. At how it allowed me to stay complacent and numb.’

Therapy was not as easy: ‘With work, I allowed myself to feel the traumas I’d been through.’
