Jones College sports fans come out for a ‘Night With The Bobcats’

ELLISVILLE, Miss. (WDAM) – Fans of Jones College Athletics got a chance to interact with student-athletes and celebrate the new semester.

“It’s really fun to see everyone come out and support us,” defensive lineman Kelten Mickell said. “If you come from a small town, you don’t really get that opportunity that much.”

There’s a little over a week until kick-off.

Punter Bart Edmiston is confident that he and his team will succeed this season.

“I’m looking to keep doing what I did last year and bring it to new heights,” Edmiston said. “I think the team and Coach (Steve) Buckley are going to do real well this year.”

Before the festivities started, Jones College took the time to recognize all of its athletes for their hard work and dedication.

“It’s really awesome that Jones has a community that comes and supports our team with whatever we do,” Edmiston said. “Every year, there’s been a lot of people here.

I think it makes us as a team feel good and want to go out there and perform for them.”

Afterward, folks enjoyed food, music and games.

Freshman Damari McDonald was just happy to get out and mingle.

“Meeting new people, having fun, ‘cause I don’t have anything to do in my dorm room,” McDonald said.

Fellow classmates, like Aaron Batison, it was a night for celebration and creating new bonds and connections.

“They’re welcoming, and they make you feel at home and like you’re apart of the family,” Batison said.
