Jonesboro Youth Shooting Sports Day announced during city council

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Normal Jonesboro city council business wasn’t the only thing happening in council chambers Tuesday evening.

Mayor Harold Copenhaver announced Aug. 20 as Jonesboro Youth Shooting Sports Day to honor the Jonesboro Trap Team.

“I there now for, Harold Copenhaver, mayor of the city of Jonesboro, by the virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, do hereby proclaim this to be Jonesboro Youth Shooting Sports Day,” the mayor said. “I want to commend you on your accomplishments and to much more continued success for you. You represent our city well. Thank you, job well done.”

The proclamation comes after the Jonesboro Trap team competed at the Grand National Trapshooting Tournament in Sparta, Ill. with multiple top-three finishes.

They participated in sporting clays, skeets, handicaps doubles, and singles.
