Joseph Altuzarra Is Designing Clothes for Victoria’s Secret

On Tuesday night, Victoria’s Secret will stage its signature runway show for the first time in six years — this time, live and streaming online. The brand has promised the same glamour of the old show with modern updates. What kind of updates, you might ask? Well, it looks like models Gigi Hadid and Tyra Banks will be wearing more than push-up bras and wings. Victoria’s Secret is expanding into clothes, and not just activewear and pajamas. On Wednesday, the brand announced that New York designer Joseph Altuzarra has signed on as its “designer in residence.” He will create a series of ready-to-wear collections “to fully develop a complete wardrobe for the Victoria’s Secret customer,” according to Vogue. His first pieces will be part of the runway show next week, and the rest will debut throughout 2025.

As Victoria’s Secret works through a tricky turnaround after years of tough press and struggling sales, it’s enlisting help from the world of high fashion. The stylist for next week’s show is Emmanuelle Alt, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris. She styled a campaign for Victoria’s Secret that debuted this summer, featuring former Angels Candice Swanepoel and Behati Prinsloo in lingerie party dresses. Is Victoria’s Secret aiming to become more than just a destination for underwire bras as it works its comeback? We’ll see on Tuesday night.
