JUCO batting champion Elliott Peterson commits to Arkansas baseball | Whole Hog Sports

FAYETTEVILLE — Elliott Peterson, who led NJCAA Division I with a .517 batting average this year at Southeast Community College, committed to Arkansas baseball, he confirmed Sunday.

His commitment came following a visit to Fayetteville.

“Growing up I have always dreamed of playing in the College World Series,” Peterson wrote in a statement to WholeHogSports, “and after seeing the facilities and meeting the coaching staff at Arkansas, I knew this was the place I wanted to come to make that dream happen!”

Peterson, a 6-1 catcher, bats from the right side and was named a first-team NJCAA All-America selection as a sophomore in 2024.

Along with his division-best batting average, Peterson ranked third nationally with 91 RBI and sixth with a .894 slugging percentage. He recorded 107 hits, 21 doubles, 15 home runs and 6 triples.

He was successful on all 25 stolen-base attempts and ranked third in NJCAA in both total bases (185) and on-base percentage (.585). He walked and struck out 35 times apiece.

Peterson had a .994 fielding percentage with just 2 errors in 363 total chances. He caught five runners stealing and had two passed balls.

The native of Elkhorn, Neb., was ranked the No. 21 player in Nebraska in the class of 2022 by Perfect Game.

Peterson is the sixth junior college transfer to announce his commitment to the Razorbacks this offseason. He joined infielder Brent Iredale (New Mexico Junior College), outfielder Kolton Reynolds (Crowder College), infielder Trenton Rowan (Seward County Community College), infielder Carson Schrack (Coffeyville Community College) and outfielder Justin Thomas (Florida SouthWestern State College).

The Razorbacks have also received pledges from 10 Division I transfers and 1 Division II transfer for a total of 17 transfers.
