Judith Ann Hamilton

Judith Ann Hamilton, 80, Altoona, passed away Monday. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Russell and Elda (Shipe) Lauver.

Judy was twice married. She married Harry Hamilton, father of her children, who preceded her in death. She later married Thomas Vinglas, who also preceded her in death, on Feb. 10, 2021.

Judy is survived by a son, Steven Lee Hamilton of Altoona; a daughter, Andrea Kelly (Andrew) of Pittsburgh; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Hamilton and Logan Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Russell; and siblings: Stanley Lauver, Nancy Lauver, Linda Gibney and Sharon Lauver.

She was extremely loved by many, including some very special cousins, nieces, nephews and honorary family.

Judy was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Altoona and previously St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Cresson.

Many knew her as the owner of the Aquarium & Pet Center, located on 6th Avenue and 7th Street, Altoona, where she was known as, “Judy from the pet shop.” Later, she worked at Word Processing Services, and finally retired as a salesperson from Sears. Judy was devoted to her special friends in the Faith and Light Community for over 20 years.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N. Fourth Ave., Altoona; and from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5519 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon. Inurnment will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.

The family suggests any donations be made to the Dorothy Day Center at St. Francis University; a charity of your choice; or for Masses in Judy’s memory.
