Judith Elizabeth Schlak (Johnson), 83, Minot, ND, passed away on October 6th, 2024, in Ada, Minnesota, surrounded by her loving family.

Judith was born on May 16th, 1941, in Minot, ND, the daughter of Ivan and Lydia Johnson (Schneider). She graduated from Minot High School in 1959. Following high school, Judith attended Minot State University, where she earned a degree in Teaching.

After completing college, Judith worked for Minot Public Schools briefly, until settling into life as a homemaker. Judith was once married to Erling Schlak. They were blessed with three daughters: Sharilyn, Valerie, and Suzanne. After her children graduated, Judith worked various positions at JC Penney, Walmart, and the Minot Vocational Workshop. These jobs kept her busy until she ultimately retired.

Following her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Center, where she enjoyed her time and began many great friendships. After the 2011 flood, she moved to Schertz, TX, to spend time closer to her daughter Valerie and her family. In 2019, she then moved to Ada, MN, with her daughter Sharilyn and her family, where she resided up until passing.

Judith was a member of Augustana Lutheran and Our Redeemer’s Lutheran in Minot, ND. While living in Ada, she attended Grace Lutheran Church. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her greatest love was spending time with family, especially her great-grandchildren. Her unwavering commitment to her special needs daughter, Suzanne, exemplified her boundless love and nurturing spirit. In her free time, Judith found joy in the little things, whether it was doing housework, cooking for the family, baking her sweet treats, or hosting meals and holidays that made us all feel at home. She always made sure to have food and treats for anyone who stopped by for a visit. Her legacy of love, warmth, and friendship will be dearly missed.

Judith is survived by: her children, Sharilyn Bohe (Wade Fuchs), Valerie (Robert) Babb, and Suzanne Schlak; grandchildren, Nicole (Brad) Howard, Heather (Scott) Nordquist, Elisabeth (Daniel) Fletcher, and Jacob (Delaney) Babb; great-grandchildren, Alina and Kaylee Howard, David and Charlie Nordquist, and Robbie Fletcher; siblings, Gary (Jackie) Johnson, Nancy (Arnie) Harstad, and JoAnn Ramsey, along with numerous cousins.
