MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – Juneteenth events kicked off this evening over in Manhattan.

It started with a fashion show going through the decades this evening. Tomorrow will be a live concert with Regina Belle and Chris Walker and Saturday will have the unity walk followed by a movie night. Committee members want everyone to come out and enjoy but also learn.

”I think the community coming, just being here to see what we have to offer here in Manhattan Kansas but then why are we here and that is to celebrate Juneteenth,” said Dr. Zelia Wiley, Juneteenth committee member.

“The community came together in a huge way we couldn’t have done it without them so again it’s the big summer fest this year there’s no other big summer fest going on it’s a way of bringing people together instead of waiting til stuff happens and then we all come together,” said Betti O., Juneteenth committee member.

The concert will take place tomorrow at 7 pm in City Park in Manhattan.
