Jurassic World 4 Return Alongside Scarlett Johansson Addressed By Chris Pratt: “You’ll Just Have To Tune In”

Chris Pratt addresses whether he will be returning for Jurassic World 4 to star alongside Scarlett Johansson. Serving as a spinoff of Steven Spielberg’s acclaimed 1993 movie, Jurassic Park, the Jurassic World franchise began in 2015. After this new trilogy of films, which starred Pratt as Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire, came to an end in 2022, Jurassic World 4 was confirmed earlier this year. The upcoming installment, which hails from original movie writer David Koepp and director Gareth Edwards, is expected to feature Johansson in a starring role.

In a recent interview with CBR, Pratt comments on whether Owen could return in Jurassic World 4. The actor doesn’t offer a definitive answer one way or another, but he certainly teases that it’s a possibility. Either way, Pratt says he’ll be supporting Johansson, his former MCU costar, and the movie when it comes out. Check out his comment below:

“Hey, never say never. Maybe.
Maybe I return. Maybe I don’t.
You’ll just have to tune in to find out. I know I’ll be first in line, whether I’m in it or not.”

There Are Arguments For & Against

The original Jurassic Park cast, which includes Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, undoubtedly play the three most beloved characters in the franchise. While 2015’s Jurassic World was generally well-received, its two sequels were more divisive, and characters like Owen and Claire arguably didn’t get much development. The Jurassic World Dominion reviews, in fact, were the worst of the whole franchise, at least from critics.

Unfortunately, throughout his three films, Owen doesn’t evolve beyond being a somewhat generic action movie lead. Pratt plays the part well and is charismatic, but there’s nothing really compelling enough about the character to justify shoehorning him into another story after the Jurassic World Dominion ending. It might be better to let Jurassic World 4 start fresh, which is seemingly what will happen given that the film has been reported to be something of a soft reboot for the franchise.

That being said, it would certainly be fun to see Pratt and Johansson share the screen together. Plus, the dinosaurs tend to be the stars of the show in most Jurassic movies anyway, meaning it might not matter if Owen is a little flat as a character. It remains to be seen whether Jurassic World 4 will bring Pratt back, but the actor’s latest comment certainly suggests it could happen.
