With Y2K vintage fashion back in vogue for Gen Z, some young people are reaching for pieces from their parents’ wardrobes back in the early 2000s for their new fashion staples – and for the children of famous women, the capsule pieces at their disposal are real showstoppers.
The daughters of A-listers lead privileged upbringings in many ways; not least because they now have their pick of crop with designer gowns from bygone eras now popular again.
Earlier this week, the daughter of Cindy Crawford, Kaia Geber, stepped out in a stunning white dress of her mother’s, looking nearly identical to her parent who first worn the gown in 1993.
And Kaia is just one of many to have worn a number from her mother’s former vestures, with a number of Gen Z nepo babies re-wearing the now trendy wardrobes of their parents from the 90s and noughties.
Earlier this year, Catherine Zeta-Jones’s daughter celebrated her birthday in one of her mother’s famous silk gowns, with Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, and Brooke Shields also among the parents lending some of their best red carpet looks to their offspring.

Fifteen-year-old Birdie Silverstein, glowed in her mother’s vintage 1999 Betsey Johnson dress during Olivia Rodrigo‘s ‘Guts’ tour concert in New York City in April earlier this year.
The teenager stunned in a red velvet gown, carved out with black lace straps, a look previously worn by her mother to the premiere of ‘The Green Mile’ with former boyfriend, Colin Hanks 25 years ago.

The pale pink satin gown is embodied with white lace and flowers around the bust and hem of the dress. The silky gown looked radiant on Carys as she celebrated her 21st in style in April 2024.
In an Instagram post at the time, the proud daughter wrote: ‘The most perfect 21st I could ask for!’
Her mother wrote her own heartwarming post, delighted to see her timeless style in action once more.
She wrote: ‘You are the joy of my life. 21 years of watching you blossom into the most incredible woman you are today is a God given gift that I never take for granted and cherish every day of my life. Thank you for being you. I love you with all my heart.’

Another youngster to have borrowed a vintage number from her mother’s collection was Courtney Cox’s daughter, Coco Arquette, who was lent a dark lavender slip dress in 2019.

Sharing a picture of her daughter wearing the very same dress, Courtney wrote on Instagram at the time: ‘I’m not one to hold onto things but this was a damn good purchase.’
Courtney first roe the dress to the premiere of Snake Eyes in 1998, accompanied by her then-husband David Arquette, who she separated with in 2010 when Coco was six.
