Kansas City’s FIFA World Cup commission offering k prize for winning poster design

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Think you’ve got the artistic skills to “showcase our region” to the world? Kansas City’s FIFA World Cup Authority is offering a grand prize of $10,000 to whoever can.

Now through Oct. 29, 2024, entries are open to design Kansas City’s official Host City Poster ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Five finalists will be selected to win $1,000 but only one will win an additional $10,000 and the honor of representing Kansas City through a unique poster.

KC2026 said the winning design should “be an expression of our shared love of sports, but also capture how we collaborate to strengthen our communities, celebrate victories and unite as the heart of the nation.” It will become “an iconic image of the World Cup in Kansas City.”

To enter, participants must:

  • Be 18 years of age and older
  • Send one sketch of their idea
  • Send three previous examples of their work

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for one Kansan or Missourian to shine before an international audience,” said KC2026 CEO Pam Kramer. “We are proud of our region’s thriving arts community and this is our chance to put those talents on the world stage.”

The winner will be announced in the beginning of 2025.
