Kansas Works helps recent grads job search

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Graduating seniors have walked across the stage and are stepping into the workforce.

“Currently in the region, there are around 10,000 job opportunities available,” said Kansas Department of Commerce Assistant Secretary Mike Beene.

Kansas Works stands ready to help offering free assistance at every job search stage.

“We have three offices scattered around the region in Lawrence, Topeka, and Manhattan. Staff are available to assist you not only in your job search but if you need help working on your resume, working on your cover letter, or just preparing and doing mock interviews,” said Beene.

If you’re not sure where you fit best in the job market Kansas Works can help you find out.

“What we’ve developed at our workforce system or at the workforce centers is career exploration, allowing people to go through a career assessment to not only find what your skills align with but what do your interests align with,” said Beene.

Beene says there are several opportunities across the state for anyone of any educational level and experience…

“Currently in Kansas, our unemployment rate is 2.8 percent, nationally it’s higher than that. We’re in a good economy in Kansas with a lot of job opportunities for anyone, high school student or even you or I,” said Beene.
