Kate ‘ahead of fashion trends’ as princess remains ‘style influence’ amid ‘staggered’ royal return
Princess Kate is already wearing 2025 fashion trends as she remains “a big influence on British fashion”, according to a leading stylist.
Princess Kate made just eight public appearances in 2024 but will be hoping to step out more in 2025 as her “staggered” comeback to royal duties continues.
The Princess of Wales, who has been known to re-wear outfits, has donned a peplum – a short section attached to the waistline of a blouse or dress – during past appearances, with experts predicting the style will make a major comeback next year.
The mother of two announced she was diagnosed with cancer in March, before announcing an update in September, where Kate revealed she had completed her course of preventative chemotherapy in an emotional video alongside Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Ciara Russell said: “Peplum is making a comeback because it’s a flattering style that highlights the waist and creates a feminine shape.
“It has a timeless appeal, but designers are reimagining it with a modern twist, making it feel fresh and versatile for today’s fashion.
“Whether it’s a structured jacket or a softer dress, peplum adds a stylish touch that works for a variety of occasions, which is why it’s becoming popular again.
“Peplum dresses are versatile and can be styled to suit different body types, especially when choosing the right fit and length of the peplum.”

She told the Express: “They’re really flattering and create a feminine shape that suits her style.
“They’re also coming back into fashion, and like I said before, she has a big influence on British fashion.
“It makes sense that she’d incorporate them into her wardrobe.”
Ciara predicted that “statement shoulders and sleeves will be a big trend in 2025.”

“Bold puffed sleeves, strong shoulders, and cape-like designs will add a dramatic and stylish edge to outfits, making them stand out while still feeling wearable. I also see boho chic making a comeback with lots of suede, earthy tones, and flowing fabrics.
“Fringe and embroidered details will give it a relaxed, vintage feel that still works for modern wardrobes. These two styles, bold statement pieces and the laid-back boho vibe, will complement each other and define women’s fashion in 2025.”
Speaking on Princess Kate’s return to royal duties, Royal commentator Gareth Russell exclusively told GB News: “The royal households have been really clear that a return to public life by the Princess of Wales will be staggered.
“It’s a great reminder to all of us that a process of recovery can come in fits and starts, and also that there’ll be events that she can make and events that she can’t.”
