Katy Perry Declares It’s A ‘Woman’s World’ On New Single
Hot off her Las Vegas residency and the end of her American Idol hosting gig, pop star Katy Perry is diving back into music with her upcoming seventh studio album 143 due out in September. The lead single for the project, “Woman’s World,” is out now, and on the song, the hit-making singer preaches the gospel of empowerment to the globe.
“She’s a winner, champion / Superhuman, number one / She’s a sister, she’s a mother / Open your eyes, just look around and you’ll discover / It’s a woman’s world and you’re lucky to be livin’ in it,” she sings on the track. “You better celebrate / ‘Cause, baby, we ain’t goin’ away / It’s a woman’s world and you’re lucky to be livin’ in it.”
When talking about the forthcoming project on Instagram Live, Perry said 143 was something she’s long dreamt of creating. “I’ve been talking about [doing] two albums the past eight years and that’s a dance album and an acoustic album,” she told fans, per Variety. “I finally made the dance album, the album I always wanted to make.”
“This record is super high energy, it’s super summer, it’s very high BPM,” she continued. “We just had a family dance party to one of the songs, and it’s just full of so much joy, so much love, so much light.”
To bring 143 to life, Perry teamed up with artists like Doechii on the Crystal Waters-sampling “I’m His He’s Mine” and 21 Savage on “Gimme Gimme.” On “Woman’s World,” Perry also reunited with prolific producer and songwriter Dr. Luke, marking their first time working together since her 2013 album Prism and his years-long legal battle with Kesha over alleged sexual assault that unfolded over the subsequent decade.
143 is set for release on Sept. 20.
