Kaukauna’s Jeff Matczak named top coach at Northeast Wisconsin High School Sports Awards
Kaukauna boys wrestling coach Jeff Matczak was honored as the coach of the year during Thursday’s Northeast Wisconsin High School Sports Awards show.
The event, presented by Festival Foods, was held at the Lambeau Field Atrium in Green Bay.
Matczak led Kaukauna to its fourth consecutive Division 1 state championship in March with a 36-27 victory over Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln in the championship match. Under Matczak’s guidance, Kaukauna has won eight of the last 11 state championships in Division 1.
Matczak, who was inducted into the George Martin Wisconsin Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2014, is a two-time NFHS national wrestling coach of the year.

Festival Foods sponsored the coach of the year award at the show. In all, 34 awards were handed out at the show.
The Northeast Wisconsin High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country.
The show recognized prep athletes, coaches and teams in the Appleton, Fond du Lac, Green Bay, Manitowoc, Marshfield, Oshkosh, Sheboygan, Stevens Point, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids markets for their achievements during the 2023-24 school year.
The event was produced with the support of Cellcom, Prevea Health, USA Today Sports and Golfweek.
