AKIPRESS.COM – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed the law on fight against gambling addiction. The given law prohibits gambling for public servants, military personnel and debtors.

“The list of persons for whom gambling and betting is prohibited has been expanded. Those included into the register of debtors were added to the list. Gambling is prohibited for public servants, military personnel, workers of special and law enforcement agencies, heads of public sector organizations also. Failure to comply with the law will lead to dismissal,” the Akorda press service reported.

Outdoor advertising of betting officers, their advertising in mass media is prohibited.

Sale of lottery tickets and installation of lottery terminals in residential buildings, dormitories, cultural organizations, social facilities and closer than 100 meters to them is prohibited.

Besides, the law prohibits sale of energy drinks to citizens under 21 years of age.

There are 350,000 people in Kazakhstan who are involved in gambling and make bets. By 2026, the authorities of kazakhstan intend to halve their number. Gambling addicts will be provided free medical treatment, medical and social rehabilitation. More than 80 million tenge ($166,000) will be allocated from the budget for these purposes.
