KC professional athletes unite to host free weekend youth sports clinics
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A few hometown heroes are coming together to return home and host free youth sports clinics during the end of June. From Thursday, June 27 to Sunday, June 30, the second annual Winner’s Circle Weekend will be held.
Detroit Lions Charles Harris, Phoenix Suns Ishmail Wainright, San Francisco 49ers Ronnie Bell, South Bay Lakers Shaquille Harrison and former KC Chiefs tight end Kendall Blanton will host the annual Winners Circle Weekend.
Harris and Wainright brought the first Winners Circle Weekend to 18th and Vine District, during summer of 2023. According to a press release, due to the massive support received, Harris and Wainright invited several other professional athletes who are KC natives to join in this year’s festivities.

As part of this year’s weekend programming, Wainright and Harrison will host a free youth basketball clinic. Harris, Bell, and Blanton will host a free youth football clinic. A full list of the weekend activities is listed below:
– Entrepreneurship and Business Development Networking Event
Thursday, June 27: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Made Mobb, 221 Southwest Blvd
Event to connect with sports industry leaders and professionals to gain insights and build connections. This event is free but registration is encouraged.
– Local Legends Celebrity Basketball Game
Friday, June 28: 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Pembroke Hill School Athletic Center, 1439 W. 51st. St.
This event not only promises exciting sports entertainment, but also honors Kansas City’s local heroes in sports and the community, celebrating their contributions and achievements. Tickets: $18 in advance or $25 at the door.
– Free Basketball Clinic with Ishmail Wainright and Shaquille Harrison
Saturday, June 29: 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Kauffman School, 6401 The Paseo
This camp for young athletes in grades 5th-8th and 9th-12th is a unique opportunity to enhance their skills under the guidance of professional players. This event is free, but registration is required for participation.
– Legacy Makers Field Day
Saturday, June 29: 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Southeast High School IL Stadium, 3500 E Meyer Blvd
This event features a Black-owned business vendor fair, showcasing a diverse array of local products and services. It’s a day of fun, food, and festivities, honoring the legacy and future of our community. This event is free and open to the public.

Sunday, June 30: 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Lincoln College Prep, 2111 Woodland Ave
This camp offers young athletes in grades 9th-12th a unique opportunity to enhance their skills under the guidance of professional players. This event is free but registration is required for participation.
