‘Keep their bravery alive forever’: Crunch Fitness hosts stair climb to honor 9/11 first responders

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Crunch Fitness hosted a stair climb tribute Wednesday to honor the men and women who rushed into the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Tribute participants climbed as many flights of stairs as possible, but the goal was to climb 110 to symbolize the first responders’ journey into the World Trade Center to save others after the horrific terrorist attack that took almost 3,000 lives.

Natalia Jeffers, a fitness trainer and participant in the challenge said it is imperative to appreciate first responders.

“Anything that goes wrong in the world we have people that are out there fighting for us and being our defense and that just means a lot to me and a lot to our community,” Jeffers said.

Jeffers also expressed that this tribute is to honor everyone who lost their lives, though we can never know how the first responders and victims felt and what they experienced on that day.

“We know it’s nowhere near the exertion they put out but it’s just our way to be able to experience just a fraction of what they went through,” she said.

Crunch manager Dylan Lewis shared that they plan to keep the memorial up throughout the week so others can participate in the tribute.
