Kelly Ripa calls out ‘Live’ staffers for ‘arguing’ during broadcast: ‘Neither one of you are invisible’
The scariest thing on Live With Kelly & Mark this season might not be the show’s annual Halloween episode.
Kelly Ripa playfully called out a few off-camera terrors on Wednesday morning’s episode, which saw longtime executive producer Michael Gelman and producer Scott Eason engaging in an audible exchange while Ripa and Mark Consuelos spoke at the top of the show — prompting Ripa to address both staffers in the moment.
“Well, I don’t know, you seem like you two are having a discussion,” Ripa said, turning to look at both Gelman and Eason after she and Consuelos finished a prior point. “Here’s the thing, neither one of you are invisible, and when our parents start arguing with each other over us, we are fully aware that it is happening. So, is there something you want to say to each other?”
Gelman indicated that the argument — which could be heard in the background as Ripa and Consuelos spoke during the host chat segment — stemmed from his desire to have Eason put a bowl of pistachios on the table for the cohosts to eat.
“You have some pistachios on your little side table there,” Gelman said. “For some reason, Scott was afraid to put them on the table.”
Ripa then asked, “Do you guys want to work it out?” before Consuelos said he and the crew would have a “talk after” the show cut to a commercial.
“This is a show I would watch, honestly. Tomorrow we should stand here and you guys sit here,” Ripa joked, motioning for both Gelman and Eason to take her place at the table.

One of the show’s official social media pages later shared an update on the moment, as it shared an Instagram Story post featuring an explanation from Eason.
“Listen, I didn’t want to stick my arm creepily into the side of the screen,” he said in the clip, explaining that the pistachios Gelman wanted in the frame “were on the side table” in an awkward spot that wasn’t easily accessible for relocation, and that he “wrote a note to Michael” during the episode which “said, ‘We have the nuts.’”
