Kids enjoyed shopping in the Christmas spirit at the 41st annual children’s shopping spree
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – With Christmas only 11 days away, kids were allowed to experience a shopping spree all on their own.
Shawnee County Parks and Recreation held its 41st annual Children’s Shopping Spree Saturday featuring everything from handmade crafts to baked goods.
Kids were encouraged to come out and shop products for $10 or less at the Garfield Park Shelter House to find the perfect gift for siblings, friends, or guardians.
Vendors say this opportunity gives children the ability to pick out a unique gift and be proud they did it themselves.
“It’s one event where there are so many things that kids can choose from. They’re affordable, everything’s on their level, and they can touch and pick it up and feel it. I think it’s a great opportunity for kids to be making the decisions and not going from store to store looking around,” said Susan Leonard,
The shopping spree was held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
