King Street overhaul near Bradlee Shopping Center headed to City Council review next week | ALXnow
A plan to substantially overhaul a portion of King Street near the Bradlee Shopping Center is headed to City Council review next week.
The preferred concept would turn the access road closest to the Bradlee Shopping Center into a one-way street with a lane dedicated to public transit. The plan would also add a two-way bike path on the southern side of the street.
The presentation said the plan would maintain two-way traffic on king street, but would also add a new sidewalk along the access road.
The staff report said the recommendation is also to install two new No Turn on Red restrictions at the intersections of King Street and South Taylor Street and South Wakefield Street. A new stop sign would be installed at the right turn lane on King Street into the Bradlee Shopping Center.
The project would not add a sidewalk to the north side of the street neighboring the Fairlington neighborhood.
The project is scheduled for review at the Tuesday, Oct. 8, meeting of the City Council (Docket item 20).
