Klarna Powers BNPL for Luggage, Travel Accessories Brand Away
Klarna has partnered with luggage and travel accessories brand Away.
With this collaboration, Klarna’s interest-free buy now, pay later (BNPL) options are available to Away’s customers in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, Klarna said in a Monday (April 29) post on LinkedIn.
“At Klarna, we’re always looking for ways to make shopping smooth for our customers,” the company said in the post. “This collaboration marks a significant leap forward in our journey as we continue to expand into the travel sector.”
In another recently announced partnership in this sector, Klarna announced Wednesday (April 24) that it joined forces with Uber to offer users new ways to pay for rides and deliveries.
Users in the United States, Germany and Sweden can use Klarna’s Pay Now option to cover the cost of their next ride immediately and in full with a single click, while tracking purchases in the Klara app. Those in Germany and Sweden can also use Klarna’s monthly payment option, bundling purchases into one interest-free payment.
“Our partnership with Uber, a pioneer in the industry, represents a significant milestone as it will provide consumers with even more flexibility and convenience in how they pay, even on the go,” Sebastian Siemiatkowski, co-founder and CEO of Klara, said at the time in a press release.
On April 22, Klarna said it expanded its partnership with travel company Expedia, bringing Klarna’s flexible payments offering to travelers in the U.S. Klarna already offers installment payments to Expedia customers in the U.K., Germany, Finland and Sweden.
“By enabling U.S. consumers to Pay Now or Pay Later with Klarna, we are not only making travel more financially accessible, but also enhancing the booking experience with our seamless payment process,” Erin Jaeger, head of North America for Klarna, said at the time in a press release.
PYMNTS Intelligence has found that while credit cards still hold dominance in financing holiday travel, BNPL has made significant inroads.
Nineteen percent of the consumers surveyed said they opted for BNPL as a payment option, according to “The Credit Economy: How Consumers are Approaching Holiday Spending and Travel,” a PYMNTS Intelligence and i2c collaboration.
