Knights travel to Michigan Tech for weekend series – Clarkson University Athletics
Clarkson makes their longest trip of the season as they head to Houghton, MI to take on Michigan Tech on Friday and Saturday. Tonight’s game is a 7:07 pm start and Saturday is a 6:07 pm puck drop. Both games can be heard on B99.3 FM with Bob Ahfeld and streamed on Midco Sports Plus.
Clarkson moved to 3-2 on the season with a 3-1 win at Vermont last Saturday. Ayrton Martino, Ryan Taylor, & Trey Taylor scored for the Knights. Ethan Langenegger has started 4 of 5 games on the season. So far has a 2.01
GAA and a .912 save percentage with a 3-1 record. Clarkson used some timely shot blocking and good puck possession, especially down the stretch, to hold of the Cats.
After 5 games, some trends are starting to show, the Knights are generating more shots and have now out shot their opponents in all 5 games, with an average of 29.2 shots per game. Clarkson has only allowed 22 shots against per game so far this young season. In the faceoff circle, the Knights took a good step forward against UVM, winning over half of their draws and have increased their season average to .479%. With the loss of Mathieu Gosselin, the Knights centers are now getting more time in the face-off circle. Last season Mathieu took 31% of the faceoffs, winning 56%, the departed transfer Jesse Tucker, took the next most, with 21.2% of the draws, so over half of experience in the faceoff circle is gone. Oliver Moberg and Ellis Rickwood are the top returning centers along with transfers Garrett Dahm and Ryan Bottrill.
