LA radio host and entertainment reporter Robin Ayers dead at 44
Beloved Los Angeles radio host Robin Ayers passed away Thursday at the age of 44, after revealing she was battling cancer, her employers confirmed in a statement Sunday.
Ayers was a celebrated host at KBLA Talk 1580 for the past two years, doing “The RA Report with Robin Ayers” every weekday from 6 to 7 p.m., where she amassed a dedicated following with her commentary on entertainment and pop culture.
Though her cause of death wasn’t revealed, Ayers last year said she was battling leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that affects soft tissues, typically in the abdomen or uterus.
Her listeners have flocked to social media to pour out their grief and support for Ayers’ family, including her husband and twin daughters who had just celebrated their 18th birthday over the Thanksgiving break.
Ayers’ near decade-long radio reporting career started at Afterbuzz TV as a podcast host in August 2016, where she remained for three years before pivoting to her entertainment reporting at theJasmineBRAND.
It didn’t take long for her to find her home at KBLA Talk 1580 and finally host her own show with her name on it.
“Robin was a bright light. You could see her radiant smile through the radio,” KBLA Talk 1580 wrote in its statement.
“We all respected her immense talent, loved her jovial spirit, celebrated her love of family, and honored her faith in God.”
Ayers consistently defied the odds as she continued working after her cancer diagnosis and survived two car accidents in 2023.
Other celebrities have left comments for Ayers on her social media profiles following her passing.
“Heart broken, I pray to see you again one day in the kingdom my sister. Rest peacefully,” former SNL cast member Jay Pharaoh wrote.
“Robin.. thank you. Thank you for your smile, the laughter and the moments we shared. It doesn’t even feel right saying this, my heart is broken,” actress and singer-songwriter Christina Milian wrote.
“May your love pour thru and bring strength to Robbie, the Girls and your whole family. You followed your dreams and really did it from the ground up. We’re all proud of you. You left a mark in our hearts and you will be missed. Rest peacefully.”
Ayers is survived by her husband Rob and twin daughters Brooklyn and Madison. Her memorial is reportedly being organized by her KBLA family.
